Athens international airport (Eleutherios Venizelos) is located 27km
north-eastern of Athens, and is accessible via high way of six-lanes.
The airport
provides efficient public transport via bus express connections to Athens center and
the port of Piraeus on a 24 hour basis.
Line
X96 :
Piraeus
- Airport Express line X96 starts from the port of Piraeus (Karaiskaki Square) and via
Poseidonos Avenue and Vari-Koropiou street terminates at the
airport departure/ arrival terminals. For Express Lines X94-X95-X96, the ticket costs 3,20 € and is valid for 24 hours on all public transport means of Athens-Piraeus (buses, trolley-buses and metro). Arriving buses disembark passengers at the area of the airport departure Terminal. Kalamaki Marina by Taxi One of the best ways of traveling in Greece is by taxi. There are about 18.000 taxies in Athens only and they are running at reasonable cost. Tariffs are controlled by the Greek state and are valid throughout the country. You can hail a taxi in the street or book one by phoning a local cab company at extra cost. The use of a taximeter is compulsory by law and you should be aware of this. There are two basic tariffs, tariffs 1 and 2. Depending on the time of day and the journey, the driver must select the correct rate. Tariff 1 is the "day rate" used during 05.00-24.00 and tariff 2 is the night rate valid 00:00-05:00. Also, tariff 1 is used within the limits of the town or city where the taxi is registered and tariff 2 outside that zone. The number 1 or 2 should be clearly visible on the taximeter.
